Comedian Tez Ilyas (Live From the Apollo) is hosting a night of comedy, magic, song and delicious food to raise funds for Child Bereavement UK (of which Prince William is a patron following in his mother’s footsteps). The charity event will be held at the Bradford Hotel (former Hilton or Norfolk Gardens) on 22nd August at 6.30pm.

Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying or when a child is facing bereavement. Every year they train more than 10,000 professionals, helping them to better understand and meet the needs of grieving families. Bereavement support is acutely needed in Bradford as the city has the highest number of infant mortalities in the UK - double that of any other city.

Nasreen Karim, local solicitor, Lord Mayor’s Appeal Committee Member & event organiser has been promoting the work of Child Bereavement UK. Nasreen's nieces and nephews were bereaved ten years ago, following the death of their mother Shaheen Akhtar, who was just 36 years old.

It has only recently been accepted that where a person suffers a bereavement, this can have a huge impact on a person’s mental health. Where the bereavement is suffered as a child, the effects can continue to adulthood, that is why these services are so badly needed.

The event is being held to raise awareness of the issue and of the services provided by Child Bereavement UK. Here is some of the work they do:

Apart from comedy from Tez, there will be magic from the one and only Infiniti, singing and delicious street food from Bombay Bites. Please come along and enjoy a fabulous night whilst raising money for a very worthwhile cause.

Tickets are £25.00 (plus eventbrite fee of £2.54) for standard or £40 (plus eventbrite fee of £3.71) for VIP tickets near the stage.
