Rising Achievement Of Young People In Bradford

A rising number of young people in the Bradford district are achieving qualifications and training to equip them for further education or the workforce.

The latest performance figures show that the number of young people achieving a Level 2 qualification - such as five A* to C GCSEs, BTECs and Diplomas - by the age of 19 has risen by nearly five per cent. Level 2 qualifications tend to mean young people are considered ready for work, with a range of employment skills.

Those achieving Level 3 qualifications, i.e. A Levels and other equivalent qualifications needed for higher skilled employment or higher education, has risen by 1.5 per cent.

The number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) also continues to fall year on year.

Coun Ralph Berry, Porfolio Holder for Children's Services and Education, said: "We congratulate the young people, parents and staff who have worked so hard to continue to increase this achievement. We know there is more work to do to continue on this path of improvement.

"We hope our efforts to support young people into employment through learning will help make Bradford a prosperous and vibrant district."
