The Kirklees Cabinet has agreed a revamp for two community centres at its February 16 meeting.
The funding has come from Safer Stronger Communities and will make significant improvements to community centres in Ravensthorpe and Fartown.
Ravensthorpe will see capital improvements of £25,000 for better security and easier access. Training rooms and facilities at the centre will be updated and a new outdoor play area will be added.
Facilities at Fartown Village Hall will receive improvements costing around £16,000. As part of this the building will be connected to the Fresh Horizons Remote Access System which should make day-to-day management of the building and access for voluntary groups much easier.
New acrylic mirrors and a resurfaced main hall will encourage youth groups to use the building for dance and exercise sessions. The appearance of the building will be improved with new curtains and signs and the kitchen will be upgraded. It is hoped that these improvements will help attract small conferences and training groups.
Cllr Peter O'Neill, said: "Both these community centres are extremely important to the areas they serve and are well used by a wide range of groups including voluntary organisations, community groups and families.
"This funding will see a huge improvement in the already excellent provisions on offer and it will further raise the profile of both
centres."
